This composition was solely focused on the premise of the time change, allowing the viewer to see the progression through an isometric-style Mars map. Originally built in Illustrator, the goal of this design was to recreate an old illustration with a new set of tools. Upon completion of the poster, a motion piece was also developed to contribute to the story and sell an even more dynamic piece of work.
Prior to modeling anything within Blender a solid concept needed to be developed to ensure the mesh looked accurate to the original.
Individual models were constructed in a low poly art style, limiting render times and assisting the overall theme.
Assets from the original were also used as a reference and assisted in ensuring my design maintains similarities to the old work.
Prior to developing this poster key areas of research were explored. All these factors contributed to creating a rendition that best fit the plans for colonizing the red planet. Although mankind has yet to make this large leap, this composition was based primarily on the Space X Colonization Plan. Depicting the spacecraft in use, and the equipment seen on the Martian surface, these models were simplified but overall contributed to adding a more dynamic story-driven layout.

To increase the emotion within the scene, simple astronauts were modeled, textured, and rigged to enhance the story being told.
Compiled of 4 major scenes, this animated short incorporates seamless transitions. This was an attempt to limit visual disconnects when viewing.
Rendered at 60 fps, 5200 individual frames, and 24.3 Gbs of Memory.
Colonizing a secondary planet is a massive undertaking, which mankind is currently on the path towards. Requiring many years of academic study to fully comprehend, this concept was deliberately designed with the intent to depict life on Mars. Using bright colours and a pleasant soundtrack to bring happiness to such an ominous journey.
To optimally find the perfect poster layout, experiments were carried out to ensure the design fits the target audience.
This rendition, remains simple. Showcasing no speed trails.

This rendition of Mars is a simple visual representation of what the barren world would look like in a cartoon style. Showcasing various sized rocks, landmarks, and the construction of civilization on the Martian surface. Overall, opening the eyes to individuals who would never consider this plan for humanity, as it’s presented in a friendly pleasant manner.
